Nemco
A cartridge-blade tomato slicer from a family-owned Ohio maker founded in 1976.
About Nemco
Nemco started in 1976 as a small machine shop that Ed Neidhardt set up in Hicksville, Ohio. The name stands for Neidhardt Engineering and Manufacturing Company. Its first food-prep product, the Spiral Fry, followed in 1981. The family that founded Nemco still owns it, now in the third generation, and it still manufactures in Hicksville.
Excell's Nemco range is the Easy Tomato Slicer 2 with a 4.8 mm (3/16-inch) cut. It uses a pre-tensioned cartridge of 14 blades and takes tomatoes up to 114 mm across. It slices strawberries and mushrooms too.
Worth knowing
Even 4.8 mm slices
Consistent slices for portion control, cut cleanly even from over-ripe tomatoes.
Pre-tensioned blades
The blade cartridge stays aligned and tight without adjusting, and is replaced as one piece.
Guards and grip
Hand guards, a table stop, rubber feet and a polyethylene slide board.
Life-tested
Nemco tested the slicer on 25,000 lb (about 11 tonnes) of tomatoes, and it was still cutting.
